Join us at the Annapolis Powerboat Show (Oct 3rd - 6th). We are set up next to the boat Independence, a re-fit we completed in the spring, on the K1 dock. The boat is operated by Nautiste and is offering 90 minute outings with champagne and oysters throughout the show which you can book here. Designed for 4 hour long silent charters, this vessel is capable of much more. With a serial hybrid system, the generator automatically turns on to charge the batteries when they are low. This configuration allows for multi-day trips, like the 140 nautical mile trip the boat just took to reach the show.
Join us at the Annapolis Sailboat Show (Oct 10th -14th). Our booth is "TENT O 22" and we will have WaterWorld electric equipment on display. We won’t be boat-less at this show either, our re-fit partner Sunlight conversions has just completed a battery house upgrade on a Bali 4.6. 10kwh of 48v batteries and a Victron Quattro now power everything electric. If this battery bank goes low, it will get power from the existing generator which was previously required to run air conditioning. Solar was also added.
The Annapolis shows kick the re-fit season off for us. If your sailboat's diesel motor is on its last leg, an electric motor is the only choice to keep your sailboat silent at all times. We can discuss solutions and cost with you. If you are an OEM and customers have been asking for electric and you’re not sure how to do it, drop by and we can provide everything you need to know and the parts to do it.
Four years ago, we purchased a Tartan 33’ with a broken mast to test and better understand the electric equipment we offer to our customers. We tried multiple electric motors as well as bi-facial solar panels, different chargers and plugs, etc. It was a great boat; we learned a lot and now the boat has a new owner. The new owner recently completed a 500-mile trip bringing Solar Sailer home.
In marinas all around the world, there are sailboats that have not been sailed for years. Many with good sleeping areas, kitchenettes and facilities that allow for extended stays onboard. The hulls are efficient and they are, for the most part, seaworthy boats. We believe these boats can be upcycled and converted to mobile apartments on the water. With solar, batteries and electric motors, these old sailboats can be easy to operate and provide 110 power for all devices onboard while at sea. Solar Sailor proved this is viable and it's possible to live off-grid in a modern way, fully powered. We look forward to helping others attain a similar goal and we cannot wait to deliver the Elight 44 power catamarans which take these principles to the next level.
